Chapin Wright Marble Basecamp - Jul 17th 2022

The road from the Town of Marble to Chapin Wright Marble Basecamp is a high clearance 4WD road, and parking is limited on site, so we encourage all volunteers to participate in our organized carpool from Marble to the Basecamp property. If you are unable to make it to the provided carpool, below are directions on how to drive to Basecamp in an appropriate vehicle or to walk from the carpool site to Basecamp. Please read these directions carefully and print or screenshot to bring with you as there is no cell phone service in Marble.

The carpool will meet at Children's Park in Marble. Click here for directions.

Marble Children’s Park is located at the corner of E Main Street and E 2nd Street. Carpool parking is along the west side of E 2nd Street. As you drive into Marble on Hwy 3, continue straight at the first stop sign you reach (W Park St & W 3rd St). Turn left to continue onto W 2nd St, and then take your first right to continue onto W 2nd St. Make your next left onto W 1st St. Take the first right onto W Main St, and then take the first right after that onto E 2nd St. The park / carpool area will be immediately on your right.

To carpool up to Basecamp, we will meet at the following times. We will also provide carpools back to Marble on Saturday and Sunday evenings for people that are leaving.

-Friday 6:30pm

-Saturday 8am

-Saturday 6pm

-Sunday 8am

If you cannot make it to the designated carpool times, you can either drive up to Basecamp or park your car at the carpool areaBeaver Lake, or at the base of Daniels Hill (trailhead often used in winter for skiing) and walk up to Basecamp (2.4 miles from carpool area, 2.2 miles from Beaver Lake, 1.5 miles from the base of Daniels Hill). Please note that the road from the base of Daniels Hill to Basecamp requires high clearance and 4WD and is not appropriate for many common vehicles, including Subarus.

Directions from Beaver Lake to Basecamp:

From Beaver Lake parking lot in Marble continue 2.2 miles down the main road around the lake (Silver Street / County Road 3 / Lost Trail Rd). There are no turns until you get to Basecamp. At .7 miles from the Beaver Lake parking lot the road will turn to dirt at the Base of Daniel's Hill. There is extra parking here for those that do not wish to travel up the high-clearance 4x4 road. At 1.5 miles stay straight and continue up the hill, do not turn right (the road to the right leads to the town of Crystal). At 2.2 miles from the Beaver Lake parking lot you'll see the gate to the property on the left, just before the road crosses through North Lost Creek. It typically takes a 3-4 point turn to turn around and drive through the gate. Drive on up, camp is only about 500ft past the gate.
